Privacy Policy

Your reading and account activity.

Updated September 26, 2026

Reading articles and public discussions does not require an account. Posting or replying in a version with discussions requires a discussion account. The app does not contain advertising, analytics, or cross-app tracking.

Information stored on your device

The app stores your learning topics, followed PubMed author names, folder names, saved articles, private article notes, reading history, and activity dates on your device. In versions with Popular papers, Like choices also stay locally. If you are signed in, liking a PubMed paper or opening its source link also sends its identifier and your account identifier to Supabase to count distinct readers. Popular papers displays aggregate counts, not who liked or opened a paper. Guest likes and opens are not sent to the discussion service. Removing the app deletes locally stored data, subject to device backup and restoration.

Discussion accounts and public content

If you use discussions, Supabase processes your email address and password credentials to create and maintain your account. New accounts can sign in without confirming ownership of the email address. If you forget your password, a recovery link or code is sent by email. Readers see your chosen display name, optional title and affiliation, optional profile photo, public comments and replies, and their timestamps. In versions with public profiles, readers can also see your visible contribution count and recent public comments. Titles and affiliations are self-reported. If you choose institution email verification, a public checkmark and email domain indicate only that you entered a code sent to an eligible institution address. This does not verify identity, employment, professional title, or license. Your full email address and verification code are not shown to readers. Mailjet delivers institution verification email. Public photos may be seen or copied before removal. We store article identifiers and titles with comments so a discussion can appear on the same paper across devices. Reports and blocked-reader choices are stored with your account. Reports are available to moderators, not other readers.

Do not post patient information or use comments for individual medical advice. We may hide comments or restrict accounts that violate discussion rules. Other readers may have seen or copied public comments before they are removed.

Article sources and external websites

To retrieve literature, the app sends ordinary network requests to PubMed, PubMed Central, Crossref, and journal or publisher pages as available. These services may receive standard connection information, such as an IP address, under their own policies. Opening an article takes you to an external website with its own privacy practices. On compatible iPhones, optional AI evidence selection runs on the device using Apple Intelligence; article text is not sent to a separate AI summary service by this feature.

Sharing, sale, and tracking

The developer does not sell personal information, share personal information for advertising, or track users across apps and websites.

Retention and deletion

You can remove your profile photo or institution checkmark in the app. You can remove your own comments, leaving a deletion marker while replies by others remain. You can delete your discussion account in the app; this removes its profile, profile photos, institution verification, comments, reports, blocks, likes, and source-open records from the discussion service. Replies by other readers may remain without their deleted parent. Deleting a discussion account does not remove saved articles or private notes from your device. Deleting the app does not by itself delete a discussion account; use the in-app account deletion option or contact us for help.

Children

The app is intended for medical professionals, trainees, researchers, and adult learners. It is not directed to children and does not knowingly collect information from children.

Changes to this policy

This policy may be updated as the app’s features or privacy practices change. The update date above will be revised for material changes.
